All I wanted was to eat my Bagel Bites...

I came home from weights at 3 and hadn't eaten since breakfast at 9 that morning. I was very hungry and decided to eat some bagel bites. I preheated the oven to 450 and then went to my room while it preheated. I came back out and the oven looked like it had lights on. I asked Jocelyn if someone else had opened it and she said no. We looked inside and there were sparks in the oven. The coil that turns red with heat was sparking in this certain spot. We didn't think that was normal. We turned off the oven and the sparking stayed. Me and my roommate Brittany kept thinking about calling maintenance but we never really did. For some reason we weren't freaking out like we should have been. I went to my room and called maintenance after a while. I was talking to her and telling her the situation and she was asking me questions. I heard a lot of noise coming from outside of my room so I went out there (while I was still talking to the maintenance girl). We had some guys over and I looked out and one of the guys was using a fire extinguisher and spraying it in the oven!

So, I tell the girl umm the spark is getting bigger and now we are using the fire extinguisher. She told me she would send someone over. At this point the stuff from the fire extinguisher was ALL over the kitchen and coming down the hallways. It is really hard to breathe with this stuff. I decided to get my camera and take some pictures. I got a few good ones and then the guys told us girls that we need to get out. So, everyone leaves my dorm. One of the guys calls 911 and next thing we know 2 fire trucks come and a cop car. P.S. the reason the guys used the fire extinguisher was because the spark was spreading to the back and one of the guys thought there was a gas light back there and that it could explode. And they had tried to put water on it and nothing changed.

As you can see, many people were interested in what was going on...

I got interviewed by a police man and he asked for all my information. I felt like an idiot since I turned the oven on.

The firemen did their stuff and then maintenance shows up (a little late).

Maintenance took our microwave and oven and they told us that when we used the fire extinguisher it ruined all the appliances.

This old guy, who was with maintenance, told us that the fire wouldn't have spread if we would have just left the oven closed. I told him we didn't know that. One of our hometeachers told him that anyone who would have seen that in their oven would have used a fire extinguisher. The old guy started to say something but then stopped mid sentence and rolled his eyes and left. As he was leaving I told him we didn't know so it was better to be safe than sorry. Okay, that was super annoying. Did he want the whole building to burn down? And maybe if the oven wouldn't have done that in the first place we wouldn't have had to use the fire extinguisher. And maybe if maintence would have gotten over there sooner. We had to call them twice. Rude old man. :) So, we were annoyed about that but whatever we did the right thing. Of course we had to get a picture in front of the truck.

We were talking afterward with the guys who saved us and our hometeachers. We were still talking about how maintenance was all mad at us and we were saying how it was kind of cool that we get new appliances. The guys were saying it would be funny if we got really old and crappy ones since we made them mad. We laughed about it, not realizing that that was going to happen. We come home and our microwave is totally lopsided. And the oven is THE OLDEST oven I have ever seen. Like it was so funny we were laughing because of what the guys had said! But we decided its not a big deal the oven should still work fine. Then we saw that it was so filthy and there was old food in it!

The lady in charge of our building came over and saw it and she was like that is ridiculous. She asked me to send her some pictures and she is going to complain to maintence and have them take care of our oven. Atleast clean it!

My cupboard full of food was right next to the dishwasher (to the left of the oven). Well, apparently stuff from the fire extinguisher got in there. I hope I don't die haha.

Hiking the Y!

Well, my ward decided to do a fun activity on Saturday morning. Hiking the Y at 5:45. AM. A) that is really early. B) I don't hike. So, I'll admit it was really beautiful once I got to the top. And the testimony meeting was great. But, I don't think I'll hike that again. :) Here is a picture with me and my roommates!

Starting off college!!

Luckily my parents came down with me to BYU and brought all my stuff. Hannah was the lucky kid who got to come along and help with everything. Then Kaitlin flew down from California to help too. So, i was very lucky. My cousin Jocelyn is my roommate so her mom and two siblings were with us too. We all drove down Thursday morning and then Kaitlin flew in that night. We went to Pf Changs and that was delicious. Jalice is the cutest baby in the world! :)

My favorite person. EVER. :)

As you can see, moving into my room was quite the adventure. :)

So sad, last picture together. :)

The traditional picture that you have to take when going to BYU. Good thing my dad was at a red light when i was taking this and then it turned green and me and my mom had to book it to the car. We ended up both jumping into the passenger seat.

My parents and Hannah stayed until Saturday afternoon and it was sad to see them go. But i will see them in August so I will survive. I hope...They helped me out a lot too so I am so glad they could come! Hannah is a crack up so I am going to miss her a lot.

I cooked for me and Kaitlin Saturday night. I felt so old haha and of course we had to take pictures to document it. And yes those pizzas are salt and pepper shakers. Thanks Alicia, they are the coolest! :)

Kaitlin made us a smoothie and my cup is the coolest ever. Just saying.

Don't worry this princess is a balloon. I mean sweet right?

Kaitlin, Jocelyn and I went on this walk around town haha and it was very fun as you can see.

My first day of school. I had class at 8 so we had to leave at 7:40. It wasn't the funnest but now I don't have the class. Woot woot so my first class is at 10. That is pretty nice. I know that I look like death in this picture, but Kaitlin said we had to take it to show mom. yay. :)

Luckily, Kaitlin stayed until Tuesday so that was helpful. She showed us around campus and all the college tricks we need to know. :) On Sunday we decided to do the walk around campus. It looked like it was getting a little stormy so we decided to change out of our church clothes and put on jeans and jackets. Well, good thing we did...And i am sorry for the disturbing face haha in this video... So it rained like crazy! Then it started hailing. And then it was so extremely hot. That was a treat.

Roommates woot woot!

I am pretty sure that this shows how hot it got after the freak storm. Haha we were dying.

As Kaitlin said, "Walking into the future." :)

This is my almost all the way decorated room! Thanks for helping Kaitlin and Hannah. :)

Well, that is it for now! A week has gone by and I am still alive. :)
